Introducing Veneto
Veneto is one of the most beautiful and fascinating areas in Italy.
It is well-known and famous for its great variety of landscapes,
for the numerous art towns and historic treasures.
It is situated in a strategic region in the north-east of Italy, and includes the majestic Dolomites
and the exciting seaside resorts on the Adriatic Sea.
The local people are very friendly and hospitable; they will always warmly welcome foreign visitors
and help them to fell at home.
Veneto offers tourists a wide choice of places to see, from breathtaking mountains, to sandy beaches,
passing through enchanting and verdant countryside, or the picturesque shores of
Lake Garda.
This is a region of incredible culture, history and art.
Tourists will undoubtedly enjoy the atmosphere and the magnificent buildings
of some of the most beautiful Italian cities and towns, such as famous
Venice,
the unique city on the water, romantic
Verona, town of Romeo and Juliet,
Vicenza, playground of the Neoclassical revival,
Padova, one of the most important university towns in the country,
and
Treviso, a little medieval town renowned for its red chicory and famous for being the city of Benetton.
Veneto offers a lot of traditional events too.
We can't forget the magic and impressive
Venice Carnival in February,
where you can admire beautiful and precious masks, or the Redentore Festivity,
which ends with spectacular fireworks and will leave you in a state of amazement and wonder.
If you like music and opera, you can't miss the opera season in summer at the impressive
Arena in Verona.
Foreign visitors should try the delightful cuisine of Veneto, characterized by
traditional and simple dishes, such as 'rice with peas', 'codfish of Vicenza',
'Venetian style liver' and the famous and unique Red Chicory of Treviso, a salad which can be prepared in numerous recipes.
All these savoury dishes can be accompanied by world-renowned wines,
from red table wines like
Merlot and
Cabernet, to sparkling white wines like
Prosecco and
Verduzzo.
Most restaurants and hotels specialise in these local dishes and the hotel organisation of Veneto
is well-established and efficient. It offers a great variety of structures,
able to satisfy the needs of all tourists and visitors, from luxurious and specialized hotels to simple and inexpensive B&B.
The area is well-connected with the rest of the country and foreign countries too,
thanks to its international airports in Venice, Treviso and Verona,
the efficient railway network, the presence of three motorways and numerous national roads.
