Quando si usa have e have got

  • Si usa have per parlare di cose che si ripetono o sono di routine:
    • I usually have a run before breakfast.
    • She always has a sandwich for lunch.

  • Si usa have o have got per parlare del possesso di cose o caratteristiche:
    • He's got a lot of books about art.
    • He has a lot of books about art.
    • She's got a good sense of humour.
    • She has a good sense of humour.

    Nota: si usa have e non have got nel past tense per parlare si un possesso:
    • I had a job interview last week. (Errato: I had got a job interview last week.)
    • We had a meeting at 2pm. (Errato: We had got a meeting at 2pm.)

    Nota: si usa sempre have got non have per domandare qualcosa relativo ad un possesso:
    • Have you got any books about art? (Errato: Have you any books about art?)
    • Has she got a bad temper? (Errato: Has she a bad temper?)
